Did You Know It’s National Toilet Repair Month? We all know you have been ignoring the most important part of your home, the toilet. It runs constantly, the seat is falling apart, and it is smelly. There are many DIY toilet repair projects to fix your toilet which can lead to savings to you wallet in the long run. Did you know a running toilet can waste 2 gallons of water per minute! Also older inefficient toilets can waste up to 5 – 6 gallons of water per flush!

Idea #1: If your toilet is running or if your toilet is leaking, more than likely it’s the toilet flapper. A little rubber piece inside the toilet that essentially let’s the water out and holds the water in. The flush valves tend to wear out and become brittle. It is a simple replacement piece among other toilet parts that can be purchased at any do it yourselfer store like Home Depot or Lowes. Flush repair!

Idea #2: Replace your toilet seat! It is a cheap an easy upgrade. A seat replacement can be done in less than 30 minutes! Also your girlfriend or wife will rejoice. “Wow honey! A new hinged toilet seat!”

Idea #3: Replace your old toilet that gobbles up gallons of water. New toilet installation can cost as little as $100 and  is a quality, water efficient toilet. The EPA suggests replacing with a WaterSense labeled model. By doing this you can save 13,000 gallons of water a year!
